That starts this afternoon. Just like we saw yesterday, anytime after about 4PM, a scattering of showers and storms will pop up in Eastern PA. These will be slow moving storms that will contain vivid lightning and localized drenching downpours. Small hail and gusty winds are also possible. While the vast majority of the storms won&#8217;t turn severe, I supposed one or two could briefly see wind gusts touch severe limits.<br><br>The bigger issue with storms today will be their slow movement. Since it has been dry, flash flooding isn&#8217;t a real concern. However, as you know, if one of these gully washers happens to form and not move over an urban area, the typical poor drainage areas can still see some issues. Don&#8217;t stress too much about this. Much of the day and many of us will remain dry. Just making you aware of what&#8217;s possible if the &#8220;worst case scenario&#8221; happens to play out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lorem Ipsum has been the industry&#8217;s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">Tuesday and Wednesday bring more of a widespread rain risk. An upper level system dropping down from the Upper Great Lakes will actually get cut off from the upper level flow basically right over us. There&#8217;s still uncertainty with exactly where though. In fact, it&#8217;s kind of a battle between the global models versus the higher resolution ones. Global models have this happening over western New York. High resolution models want a secondary low to form along the Jersey coastline and create a bonafide July coastal storm. This has implications on where the heaviest rain sets up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">While higher resolution models have their strengths, cutoff lows aren&#8217;t one of them. Since their data is mainly confined to the US or North America, they don&#8217;t do a great job of taking into account what&#8217;s causing the storm to get cut off in the first place. That&#8217;s being created by a blocking pattern over Greenland (-NAO). So while the solutions the higher resolution models are printing out are possible, I feel they are less likely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">So here&#8217;s what I&#8217;m expecting. Look for rounds of rain and storms on Tuesday for much of the day. It&#8217;s not raining every minute of the day. It&#8217;ll come in waves. There will be chunks of time, perhaps several hours, where it&#8217;s not raining at all. Therefore I wouldn&#8217;t classify it as a washout. It&#8217;s not a great day to pour concrete or do a roofing job&#8230; but some landscaping and other less rain sensitive work can be accomplished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lorem Ipsum has been the industry&#8217;s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">Eastern PA is highlighted in a level 2\/4 risk for flash flooding on Tuesday. This is mainly for urban areas that are more sensitive to heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding issues. I don&#8217;t believe this will be a widespread issue at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">There will be a lull Tuesday night into Wednesday morning where it doesn&#8217;t rain at all. Wednesday morning will probably be foggy in spots. Additional rainfall is likely starting late Wednesday morning and continuing off and on through Wednesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">In general &#8211; rain totals Tuesday morning through Wednesday night will range from 1-3&#8243;. It&#8217;s possible localized areas can see more than that. Perhaps 4-5&#8243; on the high end. That&#8217;s localized though.
