We’re back at it for a new week and the weather really doesn’t get much better. Most of us have plenty of sunshine though southern areas are holding onto more cloud cover. I expect that to dissipate this afternoon. Humidity levels are pretty comfortable as well. Cloud cover and showers over the Finger Lakes region is generally headed East. There’s a low chance something of that scrapes into northern Wayne County but other areas remain dry.
I’ll be watching the satellite images today and the next few days to help monitor wildfire smoke for you. There are a growing number of active wildfires in the Western United States & Canada. As our upper level wind patterns start to shift, it’s possible for some of that smoke to drift over Northeast PA. To be clear, this WILL NOT be like what we had a couple years ago when you couldn’t see across the street. This will be elevated smoke that creates a hazy sky with minimal impacts to air quality.
The more likely time for any smoky sky conditions will be Wednesday and perhaps beyond that for later in the week. That’s when the upper level wind patterns become more favorable for that smoke to drift overhead.
Temperatures are going to turn HOT for Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs both of those days will be in the low to perhaps mid 90s. Humidity is going up too so those “Feels Like” temperatures will be approaching 100. Take some common sense approaches to dealing with working outside on those extra hot summer days and you’ll be OK. Maybe even treat yourself to an ice cream on your ride home!
